St Mary's Lighthouse and island lie north of the River Tyne and Whitley Bay on the North Sea coast of England. The lighthouse is no longer in operation and is now a museum and tourist attraction which is only accessible at low tide when the causeway is not under water. The image was taken on a very cold February morning shortly after the sun had managed to break through the cloud cover just after sunrise. With the tide retreating, rock pools were left behind which reflected the lighthouse.
