The Pinto Stores, Valletta, Malta

The Pinto Stores in Valletta, Malta were commissioned by Grand Master Pinto in the 1750s at the height of the 'Baroque Movement' . These warehouses were used for the storage of silk, dried fruits and olive oil going westwards, and for the storage of food and arms arriving in port. The warehouses were rented to local merchants and European agents. The area was re-constructed together with the ancient seawall after WWII. A similar image is available without the crop.
