January sunrise at Cullercoats Bay

Description

The sandy bay at Cullercoats in the North East of England is enclosed by two small piers and was once a thriving fishing village in the early 1800s and is now home to the Dove Marine Laboratory and an RNLI Lifeboat station. This image was taken from the North end of the bay just as the sun was rising above the horizon on a cold January morning. The pier at the mouth of the River Tyne and Tynemouth Priory can be seen in silhouette on the horizon.
